I personally don’t believe in resolutions, mostly because I set myself up for failure from the get go! I’d rather go the route of monthly goals since I get a huge sense of accomplishment at the end seeing what I’ve crossed off the list and what still needs to be done! Just add this to the list of, well lists, that I keep daily!!
Bring lunch 4 times a week to work//
I usually do a good job of bringing lunch to work, but at the end of last year I started to regress to only bringing it once a week!!! We’ll see how I do since our cafe has seriously delicious lunches, but hopefully these lunch variations will be more exciting than the salads I’m use to!
Read 2 books//
I currently have DVF – The Woman I wanted to Be on my kindle ready to be read and I’m in need of a more fun read to round out the month. Suggestions welcome!! I did just finish reading Prada & Prejudice. Really fluffy and if you can get past the author’s obvious pushing of british slang then it’s not a bad .99 purchase!!
Send 3 pieces of snail mail//
I love getting mail (not bills!!) but notes from my friends and family, so I thought I’d share the love and try to send three pieces of snail mail! Plus I have so much stationary and I need to start using it!!
Plan out 2 weeks worth of blog posts ahead of time//
Not getting over zealous here and trying to have these posts written out, but to have a good idea of what two weeks out will look like blog wise will make writing much easier. Maybe even starting an editorial calendar will help a bit!!
No M&M’s for the month//
This one is a little weird, but I have a little bit of an addiction.I find myself stopping at least twice a week for just a little bag of M&M’s and this just needs to stop, at least for this month anyway!!
Organize photos from London & Paris//
This was sadly supposed to happen back in October and time just got away from me!! I printed out all our pictures from our honeymoon, but in an effort to be more efficient in 2015, I’m going to go the route of hard cover book from Shutterfly! P.S. they are having a crazy sale right now!
What about you, do prefer monthly goals or yearly goals?
xo,
I don't do resolutions either for the same reason. I do like monthly goals as well though. Good luck with all of yours!
I usually bring my lunch to work every day, and only eat lunch out occasionally. It's not just great for my wallet but my waistline as well π
Love the idea of monthly goals as I'm not big on New Year's resolutions either. You've got this gurlie!!
great goals!! when i worked in an office i always tried to bring my lunch — it's amazing how much money you save!! also peanut butter m&m's are my favorite!!! i just try not to have them in the house or else i'll eat them ALL! xo jillian – stop by! I'm hosting a giveaway on cornflake dreams
As I just made my lunch of leftover crockpot chicken and take my coffee to go…..that is the two biggest ways people tell you to save money and then invest. You know I will be gladly happy to be on the receiving end of that snail mail I am totally with you on that!
I have resolutions but I break them down into monthly/quarterly goals. I loved the book The Life Intended recently. It blew me away. I am working on doing a Blog Calendar too this year, i always feel like i am scrambling on Sunday to do drafts and come up with ideas. I want to be more organized with posts.
Love these! Especially the M&Ms! Lol! I want to get my pictures organized too! I have a plan to get a picture wall up in our bedroom that is only kind of in the works
my only goal for this month is to get through this month because after january, i'm off for 3+ glorious months!!! WAHOOOO!
These are all great and attainable goals!! I'm sure you'll master them π
Love reading your monthly goals! Now that I have the day designer in action I think I will be crossing more goals off my list monthly as well! Xo
look at these great goals. i'll tell you what – i am packing my lunches now that i'm on a budget! it's hard though. and good for you for doing some blog planning. i can't get on that train. i have tried and then fail because other ideas come up and i hate when they aren't relevant. i digress. LOVE DVF's book. love. i'm going to read wild after that. i'm all in the inspirational mode for life right now π brb off to get m&ms because now i want them
xo cheshirekatblog.com
I love the monthly goals!! These are great goals, and I need to quit M&M's too! They're my little addiction!
Awesome and doable goals. I need to get ahead on the blog posts… never to seem to be able to. I love the m&m's goal. Sometimes giving up the littlest indulgence is huge mental accomplishment:)
Great goals! You can totally do them. I do monthly goals myself as I find it easier. Best of LUCK!!
Those are great goals! I always brought lunch when I worked in an office. Sometimes I bring lunch with me to the store, otherwise I just bring a snack. I bought a book for this last trip and I didn't read it, haha. I will now though. I love getting snail mail too. π You can do it lady! I hope that you are having a good day so far too.
Love your monthly goals! I'm with you on the M&M thing. I went to the grocery yesterday to pick up mint m&ms and thankfully they were out! Must have been a sign. Love your goal about writing snail mail too!
Great goals, girl! I'm with you on setting them monthly – I never stick to the dreaded New Years resolutions. That's too funny about M&M's … I currently have two massive bags in my pantry because I didn't get a chance to use them for holiday baking as I had planned. That could get dangerous!
I am trying to bring my lunch more! It is so hard for me when I work with my dad and I love going to lunch just me and my dad!
Such a good idea to put your Europe photos in an album! We made one using Adoramapix and absolutely love it! And I'm totally with you on planning out the blog posts better, need to get on that!
I used to be so good about printing pictures, but I havenβt in ages and really need to get some new ones in the frame!
These are all Perfect! I have an addiction too but mine is trail mix with M&Ms in it! I eat like a giant bag a week! Maybe I should set my goal for not eating that so much haha! I really want to start reading books too! I've just been having trouble finding the time!

Having a calendar is always so helpful and we are so with you on making lunches!! Time consuming but always worth it. Loving this January goals girl!!
xx 365hangers
NO!!! Blogger just ate my comment! But I knew I liked you–no M&Ms! Too cute! I have an entire drawer in my desk designated for candy! I can't make the goal "no candy" though because I'm in writing mode so the candy is necessary since I don't smoke or drink heavily while writing. But who am I kidding…the candy is also necessary during revision mode and edit mode so basically…my books are brought to you by candy π
I am so bad about eating out for work lunch. π I really want to print out some photos too-Chris and I keep talking about how we have all these fun vacation photos, but we never make them into albums.
I don't do resolutions either, mostly because I forget about them two days in. I really like the idea of setting goals for the month, it seems much more attainable. Planning ahead when it comes to blogging is wonderful. I did that when I was away last week, had everything set and ready to go so I had nothing to do and it was an amazing feeling. That scramble is never very fun. Definitely going to have to try to do that more.

Neither – seasonal goals work best for me!
I like these. Organizing pics seems to always be on my list.
Good ideas! I need to be more organized with planning out blog posts. For books, I am the queen of books! I recommend anything by Sandra Brown, Emily Giffin, or Liane Morarity. Go check them out!

Great goals, lady! I know you'll rock them out. Wanna be pen pals?!?!! I love writing and sending letters too!
These goals are great! I should follow a few of these for sure! Happy New Year girlfriend!

Those little books are ADORABLE. you totally should do one from your trip!!!
Love these! I try to bring my lunch 4 days a week and then I get to purchase one day. (Same goes for coffee!) I feel healthier and then I really enjoy when I get to "splurge".

You're a super woman if you can get blog posts our 2 weeks ahead! I'm lucky if I can get 2 days ahead!
Ally – Life as I know it
First and foremost, Happy New Year!!! I love these goals! I bring my lunch to work a lot too, but I slack at the end of the year as well. Pinterest saves me when I am in a rut, so I wish you success in this goal. I love Shutterfly for picture books. I make one for every trip we go on. They are so fun and I love that I can tell the story of the trip. I hope you have a great week!
Great goals girl and I think I do better with the monthly goals too! It's so easy for the yearly ones to be too broad and I tend to forget about them. I need to organize our trip pictures too! I did a book on Picaboo from our Italy trip and I love looking back at it!
Such GREAT goals! I normally plan out a couple of weeks for my blog posts, even if it's just for 3 out of the 5 posts per week, and that really helps! And I'm working on the whole bringing lunch to work thing…it's tough! I did a Shutterfly book of a trip we took to Europe and I love looking back at it!
xo Southern Style
I totally agree with NOT setting resolutions because once I'm off track then I just give up. I try to give myself weekly goals and monthly goals. I adore the idea of snail mail, I need to do this. I am actually going to go look for cute little packs of cards to send randomly to friends. Plus it's a good way to have everyone's address for the future. Oh and packing lunches….that's the habit I NEED to get back into.
I had to set similar goals for myself a few months ago- eating out at lunch is a bad habit of mine that can blow my budget! Getting posts put together has been an ongoing goal that comes and goes π
I love the M &M's :))) So cute and funny! They are addicting! And I'm with you on bringing lunch to work!
I became an M&M addict during my pregnancy! I gave up sweets for the month of January and it's been so hard not to have any. I'm reading Amy Poehler's Yes Please and it's really good and funny so far.
You have a lot of goals for one month!! Be sure and let us know how you do. I still need to organize pictures from my trip to Peru, which was almost a year ago!! oops :/
Haha love the M&M goal! I finally had to throw out the last of our leftover Halloween candy this week – we had sooo much of it since it snowed on Halloween! Cheers to January!
hahaha the m&ms. funny. i wanted to try and eat no sweats this month and i totally failed like, the second day. i feel you on the addiction. i love planning out my posts, even if it's just an idea, it really helps! i love resolutions but i am also just starting to make monthly goals and that really helps as well!
I love Shutterfly. When my nieces were born, I would make a book every month with their pictures in it. They look so good together on my library shelf.
I prefer seasonal goals. It allows me to focus on several aspects of my life, but not stress about getting them all done in one month. If I made yearly goals, I wouldn't hold myself accountable or take them seriously.
I really need to get better about snail mail. It is so fun to get something that isn't a bill or junk! I am working on a 21 day detox right now. No sugar, no alcohol, no white flour and no dairy…so I feel you on the M&M's. No dairy has been the hardest struggle and I am only on day two!!
One of my big goals this year is to read one book per month and I'm actually starting with The Woman I Wanted To Be….it's great so far! I used to read so much, but last year I don't think I read one book, which is actually really sad! Oh and blog planning, if I could plan two weeks ahead I would be the happiest person in the world π Good luck in 2015 Biana!

Clothes & Quotes
I read another blog's book reviews from 2014 yesterday and there's a book called "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart. Her review of it sounded good and the author even tells people "if you know the ending to this book and someone asks you.. lie about it." So now I'm all sorts of curious about the ending! haha!
I love your goals, I don't do resolutions either. The M&M's one cracked me up. Maybe just one bag!!

Peaches In A Pod
These are definitely attainable! I need to bring lunch more and we're trying to work on that with the Europe trip getting so close (and eating out being so dang expensive!). Love the pretty photo albums you picked!
great post and great blog too <3
go on with your goals π good luck
follow?
kisses
i like that snail mail goal!
SO many fabulous goals! Cheers to 2015.
Isnβt That Charming.
Great goals!! I am the same, I picked a word this year rather than a resolution becasuee like you said, its just a set up for failure!! Love the idea of sending snail mail!! So fun!
I find I am the same way when it comes to resolutions. I am way more apt to follow through with goals than I am with some silly resolution. Good luck!
I'm the same, no big yearly goals for me either. No m&m's isn't silly, I feel ya. I gave up all sweets just for this month. I have a bad sweet tooth and went a little overboard with holiday treats. Every once in a while a good "reset" is needed, helps me get it out of my system and not crave sweets so bad. I love snail mail too, that's a good one!
As you know I'm doing the snail mail thing too! All of these are great goals!! OMG, M&M's are SO addictive, aren't they?
These are great goals. I should do this. Somehow my resolution list usually turns into things I plan to buy, lol. Like buy new sofa, remodel downstairs bathroom, get new car, etc. It is not usually things I want to change about myself and gets quite expensive.
I love the snail mail goal! I love getting mail that's not bills or junk! I didn't set any goals for us this year, but I'm already struggling with not setting some monthly goals, so I may start setting some small ones in February.
And organizing photos….I wouldn't even know where to start, ha!
organizing your photos will definitely be a fun project! i want to read that new DVF book – thanks for the suggestion!
Great goals! I love the snail mail one too — now with technology there's not that many things that come in the mail, except for Amazon purchases lol!
I love the idea of setting goals month by month. Definitely less overwhelming and much more realistic! Bringing lunch requires planning and discipline but the results are certainly worth it when you feel your best! Thanks for the inspo as I'm trying REALLY hard to avoid Starbucks these days! And I have to say, I'd also love to plan out my blog two weeks in advance! I took time off over the break to take photos and round up ideas so I won't be winging it so much like I was in December. Hopefully, I can keep this up! Happy Tuesday π

Love your goals! My favorite are the monthly ones because it's the perfect amount of time to get things accomplished without thinking too far ahead. Yearly goals are a little far out for me but I still write a few things down. I bet your shutterfly book will be awesome! I love having pictures in books rather than just printed out. good luck with your M&Ms goal – but then again, every girl needs a little chocolate in her life, right?
Bringing the lunch is a thing for me. I need to work on it!
Yes to #1!! I need to start planning on the weekends for my meals that week. I've been eating out for almost every lunch :-/ And I feel ya with the photos, I still need to print out wedding ones from over a year ago!
I like to have a mix of both short-term and long-term goals. The Woman I Wanted To Be is on my list, so I'd love to hear your thoughts after you read it! I'm also hoping to plan out more posts in advance because I know it would save me so much time in the long run. I haven't done anything to accomplish that yet, but the year and the month are still young π
The m&m one made me laugh, but I need to do that for some sweet things too π I love the idea of monthly goals- I think I'm going to work on planning some for February. I used to be so good at having posts planned in advance and using a calendar but I've been awful with it lately, so I need to get into a routine for that again too.
Hahhah I was eating m&ms as I read this!! Whoops! Bad girl after I just posted last night about how I was reducing my sugar. Love the idea of bringing lunch to work more. You'll save so much money!
I am right there with you on the bringing my lunch to work resolution. I failed miserably with this one last year, but ready to start fresh and act on it this year! And I also want to be better about making photobooks. I literally took thousands of iphone pics last year, so I think it'd be fun to make a mini album to showcase the past year! xoxo, – M @ The Sequin Notebook
These are great goals! I love the snail mail one! Also, thanks for the heads up about the sale at Shutterfly! Are M & Ms your cheese tots?
I agree it's better to do goals than resolutions. I have a bunch on my list but I need to follow suite with packing more lunches to save money and not to mention, calories!! Good luck with your goals!
Great goals! I'm totally with you on goals v. resolutions, as you read π I love your snail-mail goal especially. It's one thing I really want to work on moving forward. I sent more Christmas cards last year than I have before, and I want to keep that going with birthdays and other "just thinking of you" notes and thank-you notes too. Opening the mailbox and seeing something sweeter than a bill is just so delightful!

Love your goals! I too have an M&M problem! My kids got some in their stockings and I could not stop eating them. Can't have them in the house. Happy New Year!

Love that you do monthly goals, I feel like they are so much more attainable. I absolutely love having photobooks, but it does take a lot of time to put them together.
I never do either! These are some fantastic goals though. I just got a new blog planner as well and am hoping to be much more diligent about getting and completing goals! We'll motivate each other! π XO

I so pinned the lunch ideas. Working in San Francisco gets so expensive and I buy lunch everyday! SO BAD!!
I agree with you – monthly goals are much more manageable π Good luck with yours! Cutting out m&ms sounds tough!
I've already pinned the lunches link because I always struggle with coming up stuff to take for lunch. I agree that monthly goals are much easier to stick with! I wish I had done a hard back book instead of printing all 500+ of our honeymoon pictures. They are sitting in a box somewhere I'm sure!
Those are some great goals, I love that, new goals for each month.

I share many of the same goals… I keep putting off organizing my photos! I finally did my wedding album over a year later.
That home office is amazing– I went to the link and I'm still drooling!!! I love the goals, I hope 2015 is wonderful for you!!!

Good luck on your goals for the month. I agree that writing everything down and crossing it off as I do it adds a huge sense of accomplishment to my day. I may even add little things I've done already to my to do list like washing the dishes and making the bed, just to feel better. π
Love your to-do lists…lunch is no joke. Working at a casino I have access to buffets, steakhouses and great cafes and the last thing I need to do is forget my lunch and let myself think it's ok to belly up to the buffet! =)
And two weeks of blogging…that would be such a relief…go girl! I am going to take a look at that editorial calendar, though. I desperately need to be more consistent with blogging so anything will help at this point!
Happy January!
I dont do big grand resolutions either I like smaller goals. Like these! I really need to work on carrying lunch to work!!!
These are such good goals!! I need to sit down and plan my January goals and you have just inspired me!
Really love these goals! I need to start packing lunches too.

LOVE your goals for the month! Snail mail is my fave… I really need to get back into that! I love receiving it, so I need to be better about sending it!
I need to add reading books to my goals. I have this horrible habit of neglecting everything until I finish the book I'm reading… and since I have a toddler now, it's impossible to just neglect everything for the day (or three) that it takes me to finish a book π ha ha!
Good luck with all of your goals!
Awesome ideas for January π
Great January goals! Especially the one about planning out blogs ahead of time. It's not the easiest to do, but it's much less stressful.
Also, anything by Rainbow Rowell is an excellent choice for a fun read. I'd recommend Attachments or Fangirl. Also, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, a story about a kickass female assassin.
Great goals! Too funny about the M&M's π I'm with you on the bringing a lunch to work… and being pregnant and not being able to eat lunch meat makes things much more complicated! I find myself having PB&J or salads a lot π Haha! π
