Amanda started this Positivity Project back in November and I don’t think there is a better time than the start of the year to spread some positivity through blog land, but also to remind ourselves in the time of resolutions and goals what we love about ourselves?
Here are Amanda’s questions and number 5 I added just for fun!
1. Tell me something that you love about yourself
I’m taking the cues from the other ladies that have done this little Q&A and choosing a physical feature. As much as I didn’t like having long hair when I was younger, I’m so happy my mom didn’t let me cut or color my hair growing up!!
2. Tell me what you want to work on
I really want to work on being present!! I tried it last year and maybe half succeeded! It’s hard to be 100% present especially when so much of our lives revolves around social media, but I’m going to make a conscious and serious effort to remove myself from the computer and my phone after 10:00 PM…certain things can wait! Not checking instagram after that time probably going to be the hardest part!
3. Give someone a compliment and mean it
Jenn, I am so happy to have found your blog and become friends with you through it!! I love how honest you are in your posts and I also love how you always try to see the good in people and situations. More than anything I love our texting convos which mostly consist of selfies and DIYs!
4. Tell me something that you are proud of, succeeded in or are just generally pumped about.
I’m really proud of how far I’ve come since graduating college. It’s been five years and I finally feel like in the last year I’ve grown the most! I always struggled with figuring out what I wanted to do with my life and through a few lucky breaks and a lot hard work it’s finally happening!!
Remember that spark we all had as kids??!! I wanted to throw this bonus question in because I find that as kids, the world was really at our fingertips! We had crazy dreams, aspirations and felt like we could do anything!! Somewhere along the way we lose that spark, but maybe remembering our dream as a child would spark something exciting in us!! Obviously I won’t become a princess, but dreaming is always a good idea!
5. When you were a child, what was your dream?
I wanted to be a professional tennis player. I played competitively for 12 years and really thought I was going to be the next Anna Kournikova, but sadly I got burnt out from playing tournaments and decided to give it up after high school. This year I’m going to make a point to join a tennis club in the city and relieve some of my favorite childhood memories!!
Now it’s your turn, what do you love about yourself?
xo,
I love this post and how open and honest you are! Thank you so much for the compliment that you gave me–I 100% feel the same way! You're the best! π Definitely don't let anyone dull your sparkle, because you have a great one!
team long hair over here!! i didn't cut mine until i was 14! it's been long and short ever since. i loved learning more about you!!
Aw this is such a fun post and seriously, my answers would be nearly identical to yours! I have always thanked my mom for keeping my hair long and not letting me color it when I was a teenager, now I have healthy long hair, thanks to her! I also vowed to be more present this year and not constantly distracted by my phone!
Hope you have a great day π

Loved learning more about you, especially the tennis part. I have such an amazing respect for tennis players because of the incredible hand eye coordination factor.

What a fun post, lady! I think you are super positive, which is why we get a long so well! Your hair is gorgeous, which I've told you 100 times, haha!!!!
Love this!! You know how I feel about your long gorgeous hair… So jealous!! And I need to work on being present more too. I feel like I'm constantly connected to the Internet and I forget to step away sometimes.
Well dang, blogger just ate my comment. I'm totally working on being more present too! I actually turned my phone OFF last night around 6PM and didn't turn it back on again until this morning. Just taking away that one little distraction made such a difference! J and I were just watching TV together–but I felt that urge every 5 minutes or so to "check" my phone. It was a project to squash those urges, but it makes me sad how frequently I feel I need to be plugged in! And totally unrelated to that–I LOVE your long hair! So pretty!
Love this, your hair is gorgeous! I'm my favorite feature of myself too. Social media is taking up so much time I like setting hours to just turn it off!
Love this! And your hair is gorgeous… your mom was right π
I love that I am always curious and want to learn. At times it can be my alkalies heal because I am always wanting and reaching for more. But I also love to learn and grow and push myself to go further.
Love reading these. You do have the BEST hair. Makes me want mine back lol. Luckily mine grows very fast! xo I need to work on the phone thing too. Instagram is my weakness.
I loved reading this! One of the reasons I moved across the country a year ago was to get that spark back and start chasing those childhood dreams again. They might have changed a bit since I was a kid, but it's more that feeling I was after. I've always had lots of interests and have struggled to find exactly what I want to do, but the more I explore and do things that excite me, the closer I get to finding it! Also, damn girl! You do have some crazy nice hair!!
I'd love to watch you play tennis girl I'm sure you are amazing! So excited for this post!!!! Loved how you added an extra question. I'm trying to think of what I wanted to be as a kid and probably it was a singer/actress/figure skater of some sort π You do have the most fabulous hair! xoxoxo
I had no idea you used to play tennis! I was big into it growing up too and am so glad itβs something I enjoy doing! So meal of your gorgeous long locks! My hair grows SO slowly!!
I'm so glad that you did one of these posts! Your hair is so gorgeous, and we all need to work on being. Ore present – let's start holding one another accountable!
I love that you are working on being present! I am too. It sounds soooooo easy right, like just pay attention and live! But if you're a planner, organizer or dreamer, it is just so dang hard to live for the moment and enjoy the present. Thanks for reminding me to live in the now!
Being present is sometimes hard to do, but hopefully this year will bring more of it! I love your honesty and positivity in this post! It is good to keep sight of these things! There really is something special in our passions and dreams as little girls!
I love this, I always love to hear how people see that they have grown. Its a good feeling. I need to try to be more in the present too, its so tough with computers and cell phones….what did people do before them? lol. On a funny account, my daughter keeps consonantly telling me that I need to join Tennis because "that's what moms do". She also told me Im old enough to be a grandma because Im so old…wth, Im only 30!
You do have gorgeous hair. I too am trying to be more present but it is a struggle. Being positive makes a huge difference, it's all in your mind set. I too am trying to be more positive but its something that I really have a hard time. I tend to get stuck on the negative.
I love this. My mom also wouldn't let me color my hair (thank God), but would let me perm it? I love it now when people ask me "if that's my real color." Also, I'm still holding out hope for being a Princess π
Oh I love this!! Yes never cut your hair because it's sooo gorgeous!! I need to start living in the present too! Being bloggers it's so hard to step back! I was just talking to a coworker yesterday about how proud I am for how far I have come since college too so funny! I think we are at that time in our lives that everything just starts falling together! π

I love getting to know you better like this. I can totally see you as a tennis girl π I can't wait to hear about some of the things you're making happen. Also, I'm probably using this exact same idea for a post next week. It's such a good way to reflect.
Your hair is pretty amazing. Like a model's hair! You're a fab lady and I look forward to reading your posts every day with my cup of coffee. π Thank you for spreading some positivity today!! xoxo
this is so fun! i loveee your hair π and i agree i need to take some time off social media…it can be so time consuming. xo jillian – cornflake dreams
It's so fun to learn more about you! You definitely have the most beautiful hair ever!

You have the best hair ever! I also love that you were a competitive tennis player!! I think being present and positive is such a great thing and this was a fun treat to read!
I loved tennis & was all into it during high school but I was awful at it π
I am really trying to be in the present more myself. Trying to hold back worry more that way.
I always love these posts! I am working on being more present, too. Tyler and I both put all screens away at 9 and just enjoy some time solely with each other!

ah i love this! so glad you joined up with Amanda for this too π cheers to staying present and positive! xo

Aw B I love this! (and your hair!) Staying present is key and I love miss Jenn as well! Great post girl! xo
Love this post Biana! It's so nice to learn more about you and your life. Being present really is important, but definitely incredibly hard, ESPECIALLY with that darn Instagram! Oh also, I would diiiie for your hair!

I love this post! Your hair is so, so gorgeous! I need to focus on being present more often too- it's definitely hard with social media and so much going on 24/7. So cool that you play tennis! I had to take a class in college for one of my PE electives and it was not a pretty sight, haha.
I love this post! One of my goals this year is to be more present and intentional. I'm slowly accomplishing this with the help of meditation. I use Headspace, a guided iPhone app. I recommend trying it if you have any interest. The first 10 days are free!
Love this! I really need to work on being present, too! The hardest part is sitting on Instagram while in bed — I definitely need to ease up on this. And you have the most wonderful hair! Gorgeous, all the time!
xo Southern Style
Love this!! Being present is something I need to work on – it's hard! Also you do have the best hair π
I cut my hair last summer and I can't wait for mine to grow out again, your hair looks so nice π
I always loved tennis I love that is what you wanted to be when you were a kid.
The one thing I love about myself is my eye color, they are blue and in the sun they get so bright. haha Sounds a little weird writing it out π

Being present is something that I do too and sometimes it's so hard to do))

Love love love this! And no you didn't sound braggy either! π Girl, your hair is amazing. I would kill for mine to be that long and shiny! We started playing tennis last spring but kind of stopped with all the moving – I want to get back into that this year as well!
I love this project!
Great post! I love it all, it is so important to stay positive!
Love this! Being present is so tough. I gave up instagram and FB for 10 days and not checking at night is TORTURE but I do get to bed muuuch earlier!
And I am so jealous of your long hair!
Being present is something I'm also striving for this year – but so far for me, it's easier said than done! I've never really cut my hair either and I'm so glad…long hair is such a pain to take care of but it's still my favorite look!
Your hair is to die for! Mine is so processed that itβs thin and broke. Bleh! So jealous of that.
The thing I like about myself the most physically (this is hard b/c Iβm always hard on myself with this. I know Iβm not a modelβ¦) is my eye lashes. I have those obnoxiously long, natural eye lashes that if you curl them back, they will touch my brow bone.
I really like this Biana. I think being present is a struggle for all of us; especially us bloggers. And I'm with you on the hair. So glad I've never colored mine! And glad I found another hair virgin, haha!
aw have fun playing tennis again! π
your hair is absolutely gorgeous – i can see why you love it! my mum wouldn't let me cut mine when i was younger either, and i used to have long-ish hair a couple years ago but it just didn't hold curl or anything so i cut it and i must say i dig the shorter length.
and yes to being present- i think we could all work on this!
i have this post in my drafts and I am really struggling to write it, lol. Glad to see other people are though.
You are so right about your hair- it's absolutely gorgeous!! And I'm so guilty on catching up on Instagram after I turn the lights off and get in bed. I feel like I always need to be caught up or I'll go crazy!! Lol.
I love that you did this! Your hair is definitely beautiful and I'm jealous everytime I see your pictures. I love what you said about being in the moment. Social media definitely takes our attention away from living. I am going to take on your challenge as well and say no more phone after 10. I'm so glad you are going to find a tennis league. It's a great sport! I cannot wait to hear about you getting back into it!
This was so fun to read and get to know you better π You are one of the most positive bloggers I read–so this was perfect! I LOVE your long hair so much–why do I always cut mine off?! #noselfcontrol ha! And what a great idea to shut off after 10pm–I should def. try that!

Love this project! And these are some really great answers! I love the goal of being more in the moment. This too has been a goal of mine this year. I feel as though I am constantly on my phone which I need to step away from more often! Great post! Thanks for the positive vibes! XO

Talking good about yourself is never braggy.
Aw this was excellent to read. And yes, your hair is pretty killer (but so are you!).
Your hair is gorgeous! I totally agree about being more present, I am really trying to do that as well! Love that you are going to play tennis again, how great to pick something back up that you loved as a kid!
I love this post! Especially the quote about being "all there". I'm definitely guilty of asking my boyfriend a question and then scrolling through Instagram as he tells me the answer to what I JUST asked… how rude right?! lol
If I have a daughter, I seriously hope she gets my husband's hairβ¦and in that case, I will be just like your mom and not let her cut or color it either haha! Being more present is something I'm working on as well. Joining a tennis club sounds like it will be a great thing for you!
You do have beautiful hair!!! My mom would never let my sister and I cut ours short when we were younger and she talked me out of coloring it for the longest time. I let a boss talk me in to highlights when I was in my mid 20's and once you color your hair you can't really stop. I wish I wouldn't have messed with it!
I too have been trying to stay off the phone more while in the presence of others. Amazing how attached we have become to them when they didn't really exist 15 years ago.
I love this feature! I think your mom was right not letting you mess with your hair! You have enviable locks! And I'm so impressed that you played tennis for that long. That takes major discipline and dedication! Kudos to you!

Such a great post! I have to agree – your long hair is so pretty on you! Being present is something I need to work on more too!

Love this! And love that quote about not losing your sparkle – so important to remember π You should definitely start playing tennis again!
This is seriously beautiful! As someone who experienced bullying first hand and cyber bullying I am a huge advocate for spreading the love and sending out positive vibes so everything about this post was flawless.

Oh, what a lovely and feel-good post. Made me smile reading it!
Love these posts! Such a great idea π and always love learning more about my favorite blog ladies!! xx
like you, i was a competitive dancer for my entire life and also got burned out on it. it's taken me a while to realize that IT'S OKAY i'm not a dancer anymore! it was the majority of my identity for so long that it was hard for me to accept that my life wouldn't be just about dance anymore. π just wanted to let you know that i could relate!
Love seeing this type of post throughout blogland. I graduated college in 2009 and still haven't found what I want to do for the rest of my life. It's such a tough position to be in so good for you on having some clarity! And I agree…your long hair is gorgeous!
You are such a rock star! I love your blog and getting to know you! Also, Jenn is legit awesome! π xo
Love this post!! Gives me the happies. Love your hair as well π
Great post Biana! You definitely have some gorgeous hair!! I definitely agree with the "being present" factor! Especially with a baby on the way, I feel like I've been reminding my husband to put his phone down lately because soon, the baby is going to be the priority! π
