It has been quite some time since I shared a day in the life post – there was one I did pre-baby and then one for what it was like on maternity leave (almost exactly one year ago). I wanted to share a little glimpse into what our days look like when Sophia goes to daycare, which to be honest she just started going to a few weeks ago. My mom watches Sophia three days a week and then the other two days she’s in daycare. We are so incredibly fortunate to have the ability to decide how many days we wanted Sophia in daycare and the fact that she’s with my mom during those other days brings me a sense of calm that I need!
My alarm goes off at 6:20 AM and if Sophia isn’t already in our bed (seriously sleep training needs to be a class taught for all new parents) then I get her bottle ready and get her ready for the day. I found that getting her ready before I get myself ready is just easier, it also gives Gary a little more time to sleep in since he goes to bed way later than I do. I always pick her outfit out the night before and we make our way into the kitchen so I can get everything ready for Gary to drop Sophia off.
I’m out the door at around 7:20 and immediately on the phone with my mom to talk about the night and any other tidbits. My commute is relatively short, so I’m either watching a show (currently rewatching One Tree Hill) or reading a book. Most days I’m at my desk before 8:30.
Quick OOTD – this ruffle top from Loft is quickly becoming a favorite of mine even thought I don’t gravitate towards plaid!
The rest of the morning is spent in meetings, getting presentations ready or a slew of other things. My role is multifaceted and ranges from working on sponsorship’s to planning events to scheduling photo shoots to preparing marketing materials – every day is different and I’m really lucky to love what I do!
I like to think that I’m fortunate that the gym I belong to is close by so without any plans for lunch or a gloomy day outside, I decided to get a quick workout in. I typically eat lunch at my desk – it’s a definitely a habit I should break, but most times this is the only time I have to workout!
The rest of the day is spent very similarly to the morning. Finishing up projects I’m working on, sometimes I check into the discussion boards I have for my Marketing Strategy courses which I’m almost done with!
I leave work at 4:30 and head straight to get Sophia from daycare! Best part of the day for sure! On our walk home we saw a turkey – happens more frequently than you would think!
We’re home around 5:30 and it’s dinner time! I had leftovers from the night before – crockpot chili! Gary had an event after work so Sophia and I played for a little while and then it was time for our nigh time routine, which starts at 6:30.
She has a bath, bottle, gets cozy in her jammies and we read books! It’s one of my favorite parts of the day because she just loves when we read to her. The Pout-Pout Fish books are my favorite to read – I think I enjoy it more than her!
Once Sophia is down, I get her bottles cleaned, lunch made and prepare everything for the next day. I created a little daycare check list and it really helps me make sure I have everything ready for her. That gives me a couple hours to myself. this particular night was a good TV night – Grey’s Anatomy (yes I still watch) and A Million Little things, but I was in bed by 9:30 and reading thisand dozing off!
There you have – the most typical day in the life! Not fancy or glamorous, but these days are my favorite!
Sounds much like my days when the kids were little. Reading at bedtime always a fav. Shhh, but the boys still liked me reading to them as teens, hope Sophia does too!
Awwwws i remember those days!! Cherish them, my friend! I still watch greys too!!
Loved this glimpse into your every day life! I totally eat lunch at my desk too and have been trying to break that habit for years. I love that you read books to Sophia every night–so special!

You have such a good schedule down! I feel like that is the best thing when you have kids and makes life run so much more smoothly. Your daycare checklist is GENIUS! You should a post just on that because it is truly an amazing idea!
Busy busy busy! Still don't understand the mid-day gym sesh! I "glisten" too much 😉 XOXO, R
How wonderful that your Mom is with Sophia those days, so so special. Good for you for getting a workout in middday- also, I do eat lunch most days at my desk because I'm studying or blogging or getting ahead with something else. It pays off not having to do those things at night and take time away from Bella and the family!
You are so lucky to be able to get a workout in during the day! How is she liking daycare? Once they are toddlers they just need all that stimulation. They keep them so busy. I can't believe how big she is getting!!!
My very favorite kind of post to read! I love how you make the most of your lunch hour with fitting in a workout. And I absolutely love that Loft top on you – and your hair looks fab, too! Coming home to leftovers is always so nice I feel like – seems like the evening just is so much longer when all you have to do is heat up!
Like seriously there should be a class on sleep training, your angel is so gorgeous.Loved your recap of your day. Hope you have a great week ahead.

It's amazing how much we cram into our days, isn't it? How wonderful that your momma watches Sophia for you several days a week. I know that must give you peace of mind knowing that she's in such good hands!
I am so tempted to join a gym that is near here so I can do a lunch time workout & get it out of the way.
I have two nieces that are a little older than Sophia, but I do a lot of Busy Toddler activities with them. If you don't follow her on Insta, I highly recommend it. They love it!
oh my goshhh her little wave!!! so so cute 🙂
I love day in the life posts! I always find it so interesting to read about the ins and outs of other people's days and schedules. Still love that plaid on you, and it's SO nice that you get to sneak in a lunchtime workout sometimes!
Loved hearing about your day! I need to check out those books! Sawyer has been really into books lately too!

That is so great that your mom helps you out like that! When I watched my sister's kids I had a very similar routine and a checklist! Makes it so much easier!

I still watch Grey's too lol 🙂
I like your outfit and it sounds like you have a great routine! Daycare days are always hectic for us too, getting everything ready the night before is the best tip!
Hope that your week is off to a great start 🙂
