We enjoyed the beach, a few dining out experiences and a very special birthday celebration in August. It has felt like this year has been a combination of wishing the year away because it didn’t turn out at all like anyone expected, but there have been more good than bad moments thankfully and those are the moments that are captured on the camera roll.
Gary and I enjoyed a date night at Davio’s in Lynnfield – it was actually our first inside restaurant dining experience and I was very happy with the procedures they put in place to deal with COVID. I was also really happy to see that diners were wearing masks while walking through the restaurant or not at their table.
You already saw the celebrations we had for Sophia’s 2nd birthday, but the next day Gary and I decided to take an extra day to celebrate our girl – with a beach day!
Mid-August, we had a morning at the New England Aquarium that was so much fun. The last time we took Sophia she was 7 months old, so clearly she didn’t understand anything. This time it was a completely different experience and she really took all the fish, turtles and penguins in – the penguins were her favorite!
Gary and I had another date night at a new to us restaurant, the Ivory Pearl. The oysters are all Gary, but with their tapas style serving sizes – I enjoyed the corn & tomato succotash and seriously incredible hamburger. The real winner for me was the grilled bluefin tuna – delish!
This summer I’ve discovered my love for the Seaport. I would go to the Seaport at least once a week when I was working downtown, but now we go on the weekends and I love it so much more – less people and plenty of fresh air space! We took our Shake Shack lunches after the park and sat outside the ICA overlooking the water!
And we capped off the month with an amazing trip to Parlee Farms! It feels like each month brings it’s own challenges, anxieties but also really special moments. I choose to embrace those moments more than the harder ones. Hoping September is the start of a wonderful Fall season!
You guys managed to make the most out of the month! Looks like such a blast and I best little miss has ZERO idea that anything is “wrong” in the world!!! XOXO, R
Looks like you guys are making the most of the summer despite everything! I totally agree–while the year has been tough and unexpected, there have been some amazing moments for sure!!

What a great month for your little family!
What a nice month! Glad to hear that your first indoor dining experience felt safe and went smoothly (and totally jealous about date night – so fun!). Our state just opened indoor dining this week, so we’ll see how it goes! Sophia is getting so big. Two — wow!
Oh my goodness the pigtails I cannot!!!! That toddler vanity picture is the sweetest thing ever. I’m sure she loves her makeup like her momma. I can’t believe she is 2 already.
That yellow dress looks sooo good on you. I need to buy one now. I love the donut grow up birthday party. So cute. August was a good month!!
Okay, that toddler vanity is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! It looks like you had such a special month, and I love your attitude of embracing the best of everything right now!

Your summer really did turn out wonderful! I love all these pictures and all your smiles so much!
I am with you on having more good memories than bad during this whole thing. You guys had a pretty fun August. Zoe got a vanity last year for her birthday, and she is obsessed with that thing. She literally sits at it every morning to do her “hair and makeup” before she comes downstairs. I have a feeling we will be replacing it with a real one in a few years.
