Happy Halloween-eve! We won’t be doing the usual trick-or-treating this year, but we do have an outdoor scavenger hunt planned. I’m honestly just excited to see Sophia dressed up as Elsa and I can’t wait to share photos! In the meantime, it has been a while since I’ve shared a recently read post – since August actually which is just crazy for me. I was averaging a book a month, but recently I finished two books in a week so now I can finally share an actual book post!
This was such a great thriller! Carrie is a hot shot producer and really at the top of her game with a famous husband and fabulous job – what she wasn’t expecting was a baby! With her upcoming maternity leave a temp, Emma, has been hired and really looks up to Carrie. Only Carrie thinks she has ulterior motives – is it for her husband, job or both?!
Oh did I enjoy reading this book! I loved the two generations that each chapter alternated between! A young Estella flee’s Paris as the Nazi’s are invading and heads to New York where she uncovers secrets about her mother she never new. Her dream is to make her mark in the fashion world and in present day Fabienne travels to the Met Gala to see her grandmother’s work being exhibited and honored! She also starts to uncover the truth behind her grandmother’s life and what it means for her future.
I’m usually a fan of R.S. Grey books and honestly if this wasn’t a Kindle Unlimited book I would have asked for a refund. I thought the writing was rushed and because the main character is British – it was full of really oddly placed slang. A British pre-school teacher and a professional quarterback don’t have much in common – or do they?! Like I said, it’s not RS Grey’s best work, but passes the time quickly enough.
Colleen Hoover can do no wrong for me! She is such an incredible writer and did not disappoint with this book. Beyah has had a really tough life. A dad that wasn’t around and a mom who was addicted to drugs. Her way out comes abruptly and she ends up needing to spend the summer with her dad and his new family. She meets Samson on her first day and he seems to have just as many secrets as her. On the surface they dont seem to have much in common, but as the summer goes on and questions remain unanswered their summer fling may be more trouble than it’s worth! Another great, enthralling book and it’s part of the Kindle Unlimited program!
What have you recently read?
The Temp sounds quite interesting…and so does The Paris Seamstress. My grandma loves books like that one – I will have to share your recommendation with her!
I’ve really slacked off with my reading the past few months. The last book I read was the Paris Hours over the summer. Adding The Temp and The Paris Seamstress to my library list!
Jill – Doused in Pink
Oh my goodness I can’t wait to see Sophia all dressed up! She is at such a fun age for Halloween!!!!
The Paris Seamstress sounds so good! I am getting through books much quicker this month and my TBR pile keeps getting larger, ah! But it makes me want to read faster and all the time lol.
Can’t wait to see Sophia all dressed up for Halloween 🙂

She is going to look so cute as Elsa! These sound like some great options to add to my never ending list lol. Also, just an fyi, for some reason your posts aren’t showing up on bloglovin for me. Not sure if it’s on my end but wanted to give you a heads up 🙂 I hope you all have a great weekend!
Of course I will need to read that Colleen Hoover book! I cannot wait to see Sophia dressed up as Elsa! She is going to be the cutest Elsa ever!
The Paris Seamstress sounds like a fun book! I have been reading more lately since my neighbour started up a book club to keep connected over Iso! I’ve been mostly thrifting books but I’m going to have to start checking out newer releases and going to the library soon!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend 🙂 We got through the storms safely yesterday which was a blessing!
The Paris Seamstress sounds like a good one! Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy Quarterbacks – I remember it giving me a lot of laughs, but that’s why reading is so personal and can hit every person differently!
