Women Owned Business: Bluehill Fragrances

Happy Wednesday, friends. This month on Wednesdays via my IG Stories I’ve been sharing women owned Boston businesses. As we get closer to the holiday season, shopping local this year will be pretty important. I try to do half and half for my holiday shopping and introducing myself and all of you to brands you may not know about.

In late May I was asked to take some photos for Bluehill Fragrances and I’m excited to share these photos taken by Caroline while also introducing you to Sandy, the perfumer behind Bluehill Fragrances!

It’s no surprise that my love for Boston and New England runs pretty deep and Bluehill fragrances make you feel like you are transported into so many iconic spots. So when Sandy, the owner of Bluehill Fragrances decided on Beacon Hill as the backdrop for the photos, I couldn’t have been more excited.

Sandy switched careers later in life and after realizing one of her true passions, she named her company after the many hours she spent hiking the Blue Hill reservation trails. She studied at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in France and has since sold her lovingly made perfumes around boutiques in Boston, open markets and of course online!

The BackBay fragrance is described as:

Bright bergamot envelops the heady floral tapestry, setting the stage for a luminous heart of sweet basil, galbanum and a nuance of ocean air, while ambergris and rare earth are grounding to an addictive base of sandalwood, cedar and crystallized amber

Metrogarden is like taking a walk through the Boston Public Garden!

A flowering awakening in the heart of a great metropolis, a garden of dreams lovingly tended by its citizens is preserved as a living oasis – an ever-changing canvas of aromatic explosion offers refuge from urban restlessness.

Beachrose makes you feel like summer can last all year!

A perfect dreamscape infused with salt spray, swaying sea grass, lyrically shifting dunes and foamy shores summons sensory memories of joyful and relaxed times indelibly etched in our hearts and minds.

Fragrances are so personal! They transport you to a great memory you have of wearing them or even remind you of people that wore something similar. I have a vivid memory of my elementary school and what it smelled like walking through there – like teachers! I also have really strong memories tied to Dolce & Gabanna’s Light Blue – it always transports to me to the summer I studied abroad, which was one of my most favorite summers ever!

That is exactly how I feel about Sandy’s fragrances, they are so special and remind me of why I love New England so much! What are some of your favorite fragrances?

What I Wore:

I definitely have my nostalgic scents- for me it’s Burberry Brit! I wore it all through HS and it reminds me of all those special memories! Also, love shopping small/local so this is a great series!
