Happy Monday, friends! It was nice to have a low key weekend after the tumultuous end to last week. We watched The Tenet which was equal parts confusing as it was good and have slowly been making our way through Schitt’s Creek for the second time. It’s the comedic relief that’s needed right now. I’ve been on quite the reading / audible kick and I’ve been trying to alternate by reading one fluffy chick lit book with a thriller / suspense book that I listen to. It’s a nice balance.
Date Me Like You Mean It (Kindle Unlimited) || It’s hard to live with your best friend, especially when you’re harboring secret feelings for them. So when Maddie asks Aiden to go along with her plan of being her fake boyfriend for a bachelor / bachelorette party she wasn’t expecting for Aiden to have the same feelings for her. She’s especially confused when Aiden takes a job across the country and leaves her feeling completely abandoned. I like the escape that R.S. Grey provides and always wraps them up in a nice little bow!
Winter Street || This is the first book out of four in this series by Elin Hilderbrand and was a perfect holiday read since it takes placed during Christmas. Kelley is the owner of the Winter Street Inn and has a family tradition of a huge holiday party with all four of his kids there to enjoy the merriment. This year is a little different, he finds out a shocking secret from his wife, his kids all have their own problems and then his ex-wife shows up. Of course the book ends on a cliff hanger, but I wasn’t too invested in the characters so I actually haven’t even thought about reading the others. Usually Elin’s books have more to offer, but this one fell flat for me.
The Wives || This book has been on my list for so long and oh man, what a thriller this was. Thursday’s husband has two other wives – they don’t know specifics other than they all exist, but when Thursday learns something about Seth that she can’t shake, she starts to seek out these other women. I don’t even want to say any more because my mouth was actually hanging open when I finished it!
Inappropriate || Ireland just got terminated for an inappropriate video on someone else’s social media. She’s angry and sends a drunk email to the CEO of her company (anyone remember Confession’s of a Shopaholic!?) Not a surprise that Grant decides to bring her back and loves her fire, but of course he has a really sad past which is supposed to make sense for his tough exterior. There was a lot in this short book, but it passed the time just fine.
One Little Secret (Audible) || It took a few chapters to get into this book, but that could have been because of the stop and start listening. However, this was a really good book! Susan planned a little getaway for her neighbors and their spouses in the Hamptons and after a seriously terrible first dinner, everything takes a turn for the worst. One of them ends up dead and they are all suspects with secrets of their own. I went back and forth between thinking who actually did it and I love that in the end I was still surprised!
Lies She Told (Audible) || This was like reading / listening to two books in one. Liza is an author who is struggling to write her next thriller. She’s also going through extensive fertility treatments with her husband who is trying to cope with the disappearance of his best friend and business partner. Liza escapes her hectic world by writing about Beth, a new mom who just found out her husband was having an affair. There’s an interesting line that is drawn between the two women and just when you think you’ve figured it out – another twist gets thrown in. Really loved this book!
I’m currently reading a Colleen Hoover book and listening to a light book on Audible! What are you currently reading?
The Wives sounds like my kind of book!! Have a great day!!
Ooh! All of these drama/romance books seem right up my alley!! Thanks for sharing, Biana! Have a great day!
I just read Winter Street last month and feel the exact same way. I was shocked because I normally can’t put Elin’s books down and then want to devour the next ones of the series.
The Wives sounds like my kind of book!! Have a great day!!
I had seen the Winter Street series so talked up for so long, and then when I read them all a couple of years ago, I thought the same thing… they were just alright to me, too. Definitely not Elin Hilderbrand’s best work.
I’m currently alternating between chick lit & suspense/thrillers too! We have really similar tastes in books. I’m currently reading All The Missing Girls — going to add The Wives to my list. xo
Super jealous of all your reading you’ve accomplished. I’ve been so fried between professional and personal stress, that all I’ve been doing is vegging in front of Netflix lately and I need to pick back up my books. I am halfway through Finding Freedom, and next up is America Royals which I can’t wait to dive into. <3

I remember feeling the same way about that Elin Hilderbrand series! I only read one book and was kind of meh about it. The Wives has been on TBR list for a while, sounds like I need to get to it!

I just got Lies She Told in my que. I can’t wait to read it!
I couldn’t handle too many thrillers last year, but I feel like I’m getting back into the mood for more of them again and The Wives sounds so good- I’m very intrigued from your description, lol. I tried the Winter series a few years ago but accidentally started with the second book and it was fine, but I can’t remember if I ever read any of the other ones.
I really enjoyed The Winter Street series too.
I have 3 of the Winer books by Elin Hilderbrand but cant ever figure out the order or what I’m missing – so they still just sit on my shelf 🙁
Im adding The Wives to my next read on my Kindle! It sounds sooooo good! thanks for the recap!
The Wives was so good! I’m reading her new book right now (The Wrong Family) and it’s just as weird.
I love a good thriller! I just added One Little Secret, Lives She Told, and The Wives to my library list! Thanks for sharing your reviews!
