Happy Monday, friends! I know I’m a broken record at this point, but it’s really just a waiting game and if this little boy is like his big sister, he’ll be a few days late! This is my last week of work before I go on maternity leave, which makes me really excited. I don’t think I’ve been nesting too much probably because I’ve been spreading it out over the last few months. Bags are packed, plans are made on who will be with Sophia and trying to soak up all the time with her. My feelings of going from one to two children is all over the place – mostly excited, but I wouldn’t be human if there weren’t some nerves involved as well.
At the end of July we took some photos for Sophia’s 3rd birthday, but also to document this baby bump! I like to do these yearly photos with Sophia for two reasons – the first documenting how much she’s grown up and then we tend to use some of these for our holiday cards, that way I’m not stressing in the fall to get photos taken. These were pretty impromptu and came together in a few days. Also, very different from the ones we did with Sophia – due in large part to Sophia actually being a focal point now! We also switched gears and wanted them to be in our new stomping grounds north of the city – fully embracing suburban life!
These were far more casual and I wore the Target smocked dress that is a real winner this summer! When taking photos with a toddler, itโs really important to just go with the flow. Bring snacks, bring something that is a treat (hello bribe) and if at all possible keep the photos right at 30 minutes because anything longer and you might be fighting a losing battle! My favorite photos of Sophia from this photoshoot are the ones where we asked her to show us how she did something – like run over the bridge or jump super high! Or, “I bet you cant do XYZ” which always induces, sure can from her!
I haven’t ordered these to be printed yet, but I will actually be using Mixtiles, which lets you have the gallery wall experience without the commitment of nailing anything to your wall. Also, huge shoutout to the heatless curling technique that I used on my hair – made getting ready that much easier! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
