Summer Fun

Happy Wednesday, friends! I took a very unintentional blogging break last week. The kids both had nasty colds that kept Mason out of daycare all week and Sophia out on Friday. Daycare & Pre-school germs at their finest! I am hoping and praying that the warm weather will keep some of these sicknesses at bay for a little while! Speaking of warm weather, I wanted to share some our favorite things to have at home for the kids – i.e. Sophia – to play with!

  • Bubble lawn mower || Sophia got this for her 2nd birthday and at almost 4 she still loves to play with it. So fun to see her right alongside Gary “mowing” the grass!
  • Bubble Wand Set || We have a lot of regular bubbles, but this wand set will take chasing bubbles to the next level.
  • Sprinkler Pad || This has been the best $20 we spent in the last month! It would be the perfect size for two kids to play at the same time on it and then a bunch of kids running through at all times!
  • Walkie Chalk || Trust me when I say that if you plan on doing sidewalk chalk with your kids, you should get the walkie chalk! This saves my back and I can make even bigger designs for Sophia!
  • Easy Fill Balloons || What is more fun than a good old fashioned water balloon fight! I love these sets where you can fill a bunch up at once!
  • Ring Toss & Horseshoe || Last year Target had so many cute little lawn game sets and this year is no different. It’s nice and cheap at $5!
  • Bean Bag Toss || This is a kids size version, but I think it would be a great size for adults too – it’s like a mini cornhole!
  • Electric Smore Maker || If you don’t have a fire pit, you may be into a mini s’more maker. This one is electric, so is easily portable – take it outside or keep it inside. Super fun activity with the kids after dinner!
  • Butterfly Garden || Sophia has been learning all about bugs at school and after we visited a butterfly garden, she really wants to see them grow on their own. This set comes with two cups of live caterpillars (gross I know) but at least your don’t have to get them on our own!

One more thing we added were these swings under our deck for the kids. I really didn’t want a full on playground for them because those are only good for short period of time and this is very low maintenance and doesn’t take up a lot of room.

Whats in your summer arsenal to keep everyone entertained?

I also took last week off because I got sick, ugh. I hope your kiddos are feeling better! Being sick is the worst!

I bought the smores machine in 2020 and it is one of our favorite purchases still. We sit on our deck and do them on weekend nights. It is such a fun tradition for us. Love all the backyard games! You can get so much use out of them over the years.

Ok, that s’mores set is the cutest!! And girl, yes, the daycare germs are the worst!! Our kids were sick constantly when they were little. The good thing is that they have rarely been sick since they’ve started grade school because their immune systems are so strong. One benefit I guess!
