Happy Wednesday, friends! I feel like my reading mojo is back and I am reading all the books right now! I put a ton of books on hold at the library and they are all slowly becoming available, so I have a great cadence of upcoming books! I’m almost done with two right now, but that will be for the next post! I sometimes get asked how I make time for reading and it’s just that, I make the time. It’s important to me to find the time to unwind with books, so I make sure to always have one handy – whether on my phone or nightstand. I also feel like there are SO many great books to be read, I need to be reading constantly to stay on top of it!
The American Roommate Experiment || This is my first read by this particular author that is known for her “slow burn” writing and it was sloooowwww! The book alternates between two points of views. Rosie is a newly minted romance writer and when her apartment is suddenly flooded, she’s forced to go to her best friends apartment who just so happens to be out of town on her honeymoon. When Lucas, her best friends’ cousin shows up for a 6 week visit from Spain and since she was the unannounced guest, he agrees to let her stay until her apartment is fixed. When Rosie mentions she’s having a hard time with her second book, Lucas offers to be her inspiration, but strictly on a friendship level. I definitely felt the slow burn, but I thought the chapters in Lucas’ point of view were just not plausible – meaning I do not ever think a man would talk like that! In any case, it was entertaining and a good enough read.
The Prisoner || After having this on my reading list for quite some time, I am happy to say that it definitely lived up to the hype. Amelie has built her new life in London after losing both of her parents at a young age. She has a great group of friends and job she loves. One minute she’s living a normal life, the next she’s married to a millionaire, but she quickly learns it’s not what it’s cracked up to be. Alternating between the present and past, Amelie finds herself waking up in a pitch black room and is being held hostage. As she starts piecing stories together, things make sense. I had a feeling how things were going to end and even though I did figure it out – still a very well written thriller! Definitely recommend!
Can’t Look Away || This book should be called, Can’t Put it Down because I was hooked from the first word and wanting to read every single free moment I had! This book had it all – love, lost loves, and revenge! It was 2013, Molly was an aspiring writer and living a pretty decent life in NYC when she went to a concert and locked eyes with Jake Danner, the lead singer of the band. It was love at first sight, but before he was Molly’s, Sabrina loved Jake. The book alternates between the past and present where Molly is happily married to Hunter with a daughter, living in a suburb of Connecticut and going about her life, albeit feeling a little lost, but trying nonetheless. As Sabrina starts to share her side of the story, why she moved to Flynn Cove slowly starts to unravel just as a new version of Jake’s most popular song, is released. What happens when your life isn’t at all what you expected, you’re confronted with your past and not sure what it means. All I can say – read this book, especially if you’re a fan of Carola’s other book, Tell Me Lies! The craziest part of this book – is you can understand all the main characters feelings and thoughts.
Do you have any books that I should add to my list?
Excited to add these to my list! I’ve found my reading mojo too and it’s so fun!
